Worlds Apart

Exeperpts from "President Discusses Stem Cell Research Policy" - July 19, 2006 - 2:08PM EST

Bush vetoes embryonic stem-cell bill

"Each of these human embryos is a unique human life..."

"...with inherent dignity and matchless value."

"We see that value in the children who are with us today. "

"These boys and girls are not spare parts." (Applause.)

"They remind us of what is lost when embryos are destroyed in the name of research."

"...they remind us that in our zeal for new treatments and cures, America must never abandon our fundamental morals. "

"...They are living proof that effective medical science can also be ethical."

"We must continue to explore these hopeful alternatives and advance the cause of scientific research while staying true to the ideals of a decent and humane society..."

"America was founded on the principle that we are all created equal, and endowed by our Creator with the right to life."

"And we can ensure that science serves the cause of humanity instead of the other way around. "

"Thank you all for coming and may God bless." (Applause.)

Like I said, this guy lives in another world. He just doesn't get it.

FYI...

There has been a lot of speculation that one can read the book of Revelation and determine that the current events in the Middle East are signs of Armageddon.

As a life-long Catholic, I can tell you this:

Looking to the Bible as a source of "things to come" is the equivalent of reading the Farmer's Almanac for the next year's weather report...with the exception that the Farmer's Almanac may be a little more accurate.

I don't know how many times I can say this...the Bible is not meant to be taken literally.

That is all.

The joke that isn't funny...

CNN: BOMBS AND TEARS

Meanwhile in D.C. - President Bush has issued the first veto of his presidency, rejecting a bill to expand federal research on stem cells obtained from embryos.

Bush's priorities couldn't be more fucked up. He is an utter disgrace to our country and our fellow human counterparts around the world. Never before have I seen a wolf act so well in sheeps clothing...
